Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) copy bound in green leather over boards with gilt patterned decorations bordering front and back covers. Spine in black leather with gilt patterns at head and tail, gilt parallel bars, and gilt decorative pattern (resembling chainmail). Spine title in gilt over red leather square. Spine volume numeration in gilt over black leather. Head-,tail-, and fore-edges in gilt. Front cover detached from spine binding. Front pastedown includes markings (in pencil) at head-/fore-edge, and ex libris (bookplate) of the Boston Public Library identifying copy as a purchase of the Bates Fund, accessioned on July 25, 1889. Verso of front flyleaf includes faint markings in pencil in tail-/fore-edge of page. Printed on antique laid papers featuring horizontal chainlines, vertical wire lines, and watermark (representing a fleur-de-lys) at center spine-edge. Title page includes embossed stamp of the Boston Public Library. Verso of English-language title page includes annotations (in pencil script) concerning accession. Rear pastedown includes affixed label of the Boston Public Library, dated September, 1886, detailing circulation regulations of the Library. Label is overstamped, in purple ink, reading "Cancelled", indicating that copy was withdrawn from the Boston Public Library's circulating collection prior to being integrated into Special Collections
